Acupuncture for Oak Brook IL: What It Is
Originating in China more than 3,000 years ago, acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin single-use, disposable needles into the skin at various points throughout the body. This stimulates nerves, muscles, and connective tissue while also increasing blood flow and activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
The basis of acupuncture is to balance out the energetic flow, also known as Qi, in the body. Qi flows in circadian rhythms via the meridian pathways, encouraging the flow of blood and fluids and stabilizing the nervous system. Injury, stress, or disease disrupts these natural patterns, causing ailments to ensue.
There are concentrated areas along the paths of the acupuncture meridians, which when needled can re-establish balance and flow along the path, in turn providing relief and healing from the affliction. These areas are referred to as the acupuncture points. Combining a set of these points taps into the body’s primal ability to heal itself.
Whether as a preventive or restorative treatment, acupuncture can help alleviate many conditions, such as:
Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat | Circulatory | Gastrointestinal | Gynecological |
Sinusitis | High blood pressure | Irritable bowels | PMS/PMDD |
Dizziness/Vertigo | Anemia | Colitis | Heavy menstruation |

Your acupuncture treatment with Cindy Kudelka is customized according to your presentation. Your personalized approach begins with a 1.5-hour, in-person appointment with Cindy during which you discuss your medical history and the background of your ailment.
After your medical intake, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment. Treatments may also include cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, or a customized Chinese herbal formula. Subsequent treatments last approximately one hour per visit.
The number of treatments you receive varies, but also depends on the onset of the ailment.
