Modern living in Downers Grove IL is a microcosm of the era we occupy. We can do more in less time, travel farther faster, communicate instantly, and gain access to just about anything we need through the web. We certainly keep ourselves busy!
However, modern living also has modern problems that can come at a price, and it’s usually our health.
Whether our discomfort is physical, mental, or both, we long for a remedy that returns us to a sense of well-being. Because we often move and think so fast, we might not even realize how imperiled our health has become until we can no longer look past it.
Luckily, there are ways to find relief without resorting to invasive surgeries or constant prescriptions. An ancient holistic healing method, acupuncture may be the way to resolve many of the current challenges to our body and mind.
Cindy Kudelka is a licensed acupuncturist who supports Downers Grove residents with personalized acupuncture treatments for renewed comfort and relief.
What Is Acupuncture for Downers Grove IL?
The practice of acupuncture originated in China more than 3,000 years ago. It involves the insertion of very thin single-use, disposable needles into the skin at various points throughout the body. This activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself by stimulating nerves, muscles, and connective tissue while also increasing blood flow.
Acupuncture focuses on the balancing of our energetic flow (referred to as Qi) throughout the body. Moving in circadian rhythms through the meridian pathways, Qi encourages blood and fluid flow and stabilizes the nervous system. When we undergo injury, stress, or disease, these natural patterns are disrupted, prompting any number of ailments.
When needled, certain concentrated areas along the acupuncture meridians’ paths (known as acupuncture points) can re-establish interrupted balance and flow along the path, providing healing and relief from the affliction. A combined set of acupuncture points incites our body’s innate ability for self-healing.
As either a preventive or restorative treatment, acupuncture can help to relieve a wide range of conditions, such as:
Neurological | Respiratory | Psychological | Immune System |
Fibromyalgia | Asthma | Anxiety | Candida |
Nerve damage | Emphysema | Depression | Lupus |
Tremors | Bronchitis | Stress | Allergies |
Headaches | Pneumonia | Insomnia | MS |
Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat | Circulatory | Gastrointestinal | Gynecological |
Sinusitis | High blood pressure | Irritable bowels | PMS/PMDD |
Dizziness/Vertigo | Anemia | Colitis | Heavy menstruation |

Downers Grove IL Acupuncture: What Should I Expect?
Your individualized acupuncture treatments with Cindy Kudelka are based on your unique presentation. The approach to your distinctive plan will begin with a 90-minute office visit with Cindy to discuss your medical history and the background of any current ailments you’re looking to treat.
Once your medical intake is completed, you will receive your first acupuncture treatment. Supporting modalities may also include cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, or a customized Chinese herbal formula. After your first treatment, your following ones will last approximately one hour each.
Your treatment frequency will typically vary but also depend on the onset of any particular ailments. In many cases, acute conditions will respond quickly to acupuncture and can sometimes even be resolved in as few as three visits.
If a condition is chronic, a sustained treatment schedule will often be needed. Typically, you will have a better idea of prognosis after only a couple of visits.
Also so you know – acupuncture doesn’t hurt! You’ll feel a sensation, but it shouldn’t cause any discomfort. Some people tell of a tingling or traveling sensation along the acupuncture pathway, followed by a renewed sense of energy and relaxation after the treatment.
