Specialty & Advanced Clinical Training in Oak Brook, IL and Lakeview, IL
Cindy’s clinical work is supported by extensive post-graduate training in some of the most respected and effective lineages of Chinese medicine. These advanced systems allow her to treat complex conditions with precision, gentleness, and a deep understanding of root-cause healing.
Balance Method Acupuncture
Cindy trained in Balance Method acupuncture with Dr. Richard Tan, a globally recognized authority in classical acupuncture. This method treats pain and dysfunction by using distal points—often far from the area of injury—allowing sensitive or inflamed regions to remain needle-free.
The Balance Method is known for providing rapid pain relief while remaining exceptionally gentle, making it ideal for acute injuries, chronic pain conditions, and patients who are sensitive to needles.
Advanced Pulse Diagnosis (Classical & Contemporary)
Cindy completed advanced training in Classical and Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis with Ross Rosen. These sophisticated diagnostic systems rely on subtle variations in the quality, depth, and structure of the radial pulse at both wrists to identify internal imbalances.
Pulse diagnosis allows Cindy to:
- Precisely tailor acupuncture treatments
- Customize herbal formulas with greater accuracy
- Track changes in a patient’s condition over time
This level of diagnostic refinement supports highly individualized and responsive care.
Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine — Shang Han Lun
Cindy has advanced training in the Shang Han Lun, one of the oldest and most influential clinical medical texts in Chinese medicine. She studied under Arnaud Versluys, founder of the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, and renowned physician Dr. Huang Huang.
This classical system emphasizes the use of time-tested herbal formulas that are carefully matched to the patient’s overall presentation, allowing for effective treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. Herbal prescriptions are continually refined as the body responds and heals.
Master Tung Acupuncture & Bloodletting
Cindy trained in Master Tung acupuncture and bloodletting with Susan Johnson, Henry McCann, and Brad Whisnant. Master Tung acupuncture is a lineage-based system passed down through generations and is well known for producing fast, clinically significant results.
When clinically appropriate, these techniques are integrated thoughtfully and conservatively to enhance pain relief, improve mobility, and support faster recovery—always with patient comfort as a priority.
Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy (Integrated Approach)
Cindy completed advanced training in Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy with Sharon Sauer and Mary Biancalana, directors of the MYO Pain Relief Center. This system focuses on referred pain patterns and muscle dysfunction that contribute to both acute and chronic pain.
While Cindy no longer practices manual trigger point therapy directly, this training informs her acupuncture point selection and treatment strategy. The result is more targeted, effective pain relief rooted in both muscular and energetic understanding.
Why This Matters for Patients
This depth of specialty training allows Cindy to deliver care that is:
- Clinically precise
- Root-cause focused
- Gentle and non-aggressive
